SENIOR THESIS
A Mini Travel Guide Through the 4 Seasons in Japan
by Michelle Rodak
My inspiration
Japan has been the biggest reason why I continued pursuing art into college. It has helped me stay on the route of creativity and also keeps my inspiration flowing. Because it is a big part of my life I decided to use it as the basis of my thesis project. From anime to traditional art, I can draw an endless amount of inspiration for my work. Throughout the pages I used a very textured digital brush to capture the vivid colors and details of the natural elements in Japan such as the trees and foods.
My aim
The purpose of this thesis project is to create a travel guide with information that is aided with several graphic illustrations. It will be used as a starter's guide to travel in Japan and to get a basic understanding of traditions. If sold, the book would be made into a small informational pamphlet, 7x10 in, and would be found in airports or in bookstores.

The crane birth serves as a symbol of good fortune and longevity. There is an old Japanese legend that promises if anyone folds a thousand origami cranes they will be granted a single wish.
